by Maggie Leach
(Utah)

Really Chocolatey Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

4 ounces unsweetened bakers chocolate
1/2 pound unsalted, real butter
2 1/4 teaspoon real vanilla extract
2 cups cake flour
2 cups white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup whole milk
4 large eggs
Chocolate bar for shaving

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt chocolate over low heat until well melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. In a large mixing bowl, blend dry ingredients. Slowly add chocolate, milk and eggs to the dry ingredients, mixing well. Beat until the batter is smooth and has no lumps. Spread into two greased, round cake pans or a sheet pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool and frost. Serve with ice cream or fresh whip cream on top with chocolate shavings for an added touch.
