Seven layer salad

For this seven layer salad, you will need:

1 iceberg lettuce, washed and chopped

6 hard-boiled eggs, sliced

10 heaped tbsp frozen peas, rinsed in hot water and drained

250g grated cheddar or red leicester cheese

1 lb (aboout 500g) streaky bacon, cooked until crispy and then crumbled

4 heaped tbsp mayonnaise

3 tbsp chopped beet root

paprika

salt and pepper

(serves 10 as an appetiser or side dish)

Place half the lettuce in bottom of large bowl; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover with egg slices and sprinkle with paprika, then layer on the peas, remaining lettuce, crumbled bacon and grated cheese. Spread mayonnaise over the top. Chill overnight. Garnish with beet root and paprika. Serve.
